Today, they go back to school after a long break,
Readied for tears and tantrums, I prod them awake
Carefully I talk to them, not mentioning the 'S' word
Break it to them slowly, a strategy I've often heard
Cleverly I please them with their favorite game
Is now the right time to drop the dreaded name?
"Speed up, Dad" the two quip, quite curtly,
"We'll be late for school if we don't leave shortly"
I still can't deal with what a great poet you are. It's so surreal.
ReplyDeleteBTW, that's me, Shuva, so don't panic, not another of your *secret* admirers - I have a license to gush, issued by The Authority.
